After Venice, Naples is a fantastic artistic hub to explore. During the 17th century, the cello broke free as a solo instrument. Naples also became the city that made the art of the castrati its emblem, its reputation built on generations of young boys from modest families who dreamed of glory.

The castrato Caffarelli first trained in Naples before embarking on a pop star-like career. The pieces written specifically for him demand vocal qualities and virtuosity that placed him at the pinnacle of his art, with works by Alessandro Scarlatti, Porpora, and Vivaldi. It’s this world that comes alive through the virtuosic cello of Ophélie Gaillard, whose boundless energy breathes new life into an ensemble deeply committed to the fascinating exploration of Baroque and Classical repertoire played on historical instruments, all while maintaining an unbridled passion for voice and song.

At Saint-Michel Church, 9:00 PM.
Full price: €25, Reduced price: €20.

Sur l’eau is a travelogue written by Guy de Maupassant in 1888. Maupassant recounts a cruise he took along the French Riviera on his private yacht, Bel-Ami, passing through Cannes, Agay, Saint-Raphaël, and particularly Saint-Tropez.

The author discovers a nearly untouched Côte d’Azur, a far cry from the glamorous playground of royalty it would later become. Maupassant alternates between narrating his cruise and describing excursions on land, including a visit to the Chartreuse de la Verne, along with long digressions on the society of his time.

Sylvie Rémond and her partners bring this story to life by reading excerpts from the text, interspersed with musical pieces. It’s a beautiful, poetic moment that reflects the vibrant colors of this stunning coastal landscape.

Organized by the Culture and Heritage Department.
Free event starting at 7:00 PM.
