Events and Entertainment in Grimaud in April 2024

Friday, April 5th: Opening of Ramon Otting’s Exhibition

Copyright Ramon Otting

Organized by the Culture and Heritage department, Michèle Beddington is proud to present the new paintings by Ramon Otting along with a sculpture. In this new series of wildflowers by the Dutch painter and sculptor Ramon Otting (1969), the focus is on the wild and loving nature and how it follows its course. His inspiration for the wildflowers of Provence came like a flash! « Suddenly, it was summertime, and I was a child lying in a field of wildflowers completely fascinated by what I saw and heard: the colors, the beauty, but also a jungle full of buzzes and the crackling of little crickets and insects reproducing, eating, and in turn being eaten. – Annejet van der Zijl (Dutch Author).

Everything happens in the landscape, and as Ramon Otting says; « I love transferring the behavior of nature onto canvas. Being able to paint like this is like merging with nature, although there is always the feeling of shaping the image. But of course, this can never be achieved and can only happen in nature. Sometimes we go too far and fall. Then we must stop. In fact, it’s the quest we can never truly achieve the perfection of nature. We will always be confronted by our flaws and our insignificance.

But before us humans, it’s perseverance, the path toward the goal ».

The vernissage will be held on April 5th at the Maison des Arcades at 7:00 pm.
The exhibition will run from April 7th to May 28th, 2024.

« At Grimaud Musical Evenings, Philippe Depetris, one of France’s finest flutists, accompanied by his partner and longtime friend, the excellent guitarist Pascal Polidori (their duo spans over 30 years!), takes us on a journey to Argentina with heartfelt milongas and other melodies with delicate tremors. Instead of sharp movements, expect gentle caresses and an intoxicating aroma—the essence of the colorful streets of Buenos Aires’ port district La Boca, where the tango was born in the late 19th century. Together, they also present a bouquet of tender or voluptuous melodies inspired by the Mediterranean—its colors, dreams, endless nuances, and the sense of time passing yet lingering.
It’s pure delight ». Alain Duault
